Working Principle Of Punch Press

Nov 02, 2023 Leave a message

The design principle of a punch press is to convert circular motion into linear motion. The main motor outputs power to drive the flywheel, and the clutch drives the gear, crankshaft (or eccentric gear), connecting rod, etc. to achieve linear motion of the slider. The motion from the main motor to the connecting rod is circular motion.
There must be a transition point for circular and linear motion between the connecting rod and the slider. There are roughly two types of mechanisms designed, one is a ball type and the other is a pin type (cylindrical). Through this mechanism, circular motion is converted into linear motion of the slider. The punch press exerts pressure on the material to achieve the required shape and accuracy through plastic deformation. Therefore, a set of molds (divided into upper and lower molds) must be used to place the material between them, and the machine applies pressure to deform it. The reaction force caused by the force applied to the material during processing is absorbed by the mechanical body of the punch press.
